I was commissioned by Faye Toogood’s Studio to write a “soundscape” to help them win their pitch to Pernod Ricard. The brief I was given was 1. Pernod Ricard’s team would hear this through headphones, while wearing eye masks 2. The company were perceived as ‘old’ and wanted to be seen as ‘new’ 3. I was sent stills of a pair of Alexander McQueen men’s underwear.

Knowing that they were going to be wearing headphones, I decided to use binaural panning to move the sounds around a virtual space. To get the “old to new” concept, it starts with traditional instruments, which blend slowly into synths. Corny I know, but they won the pitch and were so happy with the music that they paid me extra (this had never happened before, or happened since).
